Yellow Paint

I have come across this quote many times on social media, and it has become one of my favourites.

The idea of consuming paint is rather hard to swallow, but it’s understandable when you understand why someone would do so. The colour yellow represents happiness, and if you’re down and depressed as Van Gogh was, it’s easier to see why he would consume yellow paint.

He thought that by painting his insides this colour, it would make him happy. When you’re in that state you’d do anything to find happiness.

I like this quote because even if you aren’t battling depression, we all have our yellow paint as the quote states. Some use love, some use drugs. It can be anything like money, or food, or pets, but we all rely on something to make us happy. We all have our own yellow paint.

“Vincent Van Gogh used to eat yellow paint because he thought it would get the happiness inside him. Many people thought he was mad and stupid for doing so because the paint was toxic, never mind that it was obvious that eating paint couldn’t possibly have any direct correlation to one’s happiness, but i never saw that.If you were so unhappy that even the maddest ideas could possibly work, like painting the walls of your internal organs yellow, then you are going to do it. It’s really no different than falling in love or taking drugs. There is a greater risk of getting your heart broken or overdosing, but people still do it everyday because there was always that chance it could make things better. Everyone has their own yellow paint.”
